  1. You know, although I sympathize with the sentiment, I’m worried about the way the petition encourages the conflation of political blogging with blogging in general. Really, for the average blogger, government interference is more about freedom of speech than freedom of the press. I’m uncomfortable with the notion that only political speech on blogs should be within the protected class, but that’s what that petition seems to be implying. Am I wrong?

  2. You’re far better off writing your own letter, in your own language, and sending that to your politicos. Form-letters, or letters with suspiciously identical language, are not given much weight at all.
