Ugh

My classes start tomorrow at 7:30 in the morning. When I am president no work or school will begin until at least 9 o’clock in the morning. Anything else is just straight stupid.

I got (count ’em: 1, 2, 3, 4) four hours of sleep last night, I’m on my second cup of tea, and it looks like an unintended nap is inevitable. I sill have to get E in the tub and to bed, finish up some laundry, and tackle the obscene pile of dishes in the kitchen. Perhaps I’ll move them to the bathtub. I really wanted to finish up my knitted Skully book bag tonight, but that is now out of the question.

It hurts.

  1. I had to administer a final this year at 7:30 in the morning. Half of my students couldn’t even make it to their 9:30 class. I half considered just giving them all A’s and sleeping in.

  2. I have class at 7:30, three days out of the week. I feel your pain. And it’s Spanish class, so I’m going to have to speak in another language when I don’t have two brain cells to rub together.

  3. My 7:30 is Shakespeare, which I have been avoiding since I started at this university. It is only taught by two professors, and apparently there is a good one and a not-so-good one. 50% chance of sucking, and 50% chance of really sucking. Serves me right.

  4. If it wasn’t for naps I never would have made it through college. I got very good at falling asleep for a 20 minute nap simply by sitting still. Still have the ability but I’ve never been able to carry it over to falling asleep while in bed. No one should have to read Shakespeare at 7:30 am, no one.

  5. I guess I couldn’t live in Laurenland. I’m very much a morning person; I actually enjoy getting up early. My mental sharpness (if I can be said to have that) and my productivity are way, way higher in the morning. After 3:00 pm or so, I’m much worse at “brain-heavy” tasks. After 6:00 pm, I’m not good for much else other than light reading, television, and, um…maybe a few other things. 🙂

  6. Hey I know how you feel. I have six classes to this semester. Five classes on MWF’s and one on T/Thr’s. Eighteen credit hours total for me. And best of all, I received a jury questionaire yesterday. Joy. Good luck to you.

  7. Science has established that the older you get, the more of a morning person you become. It is no surprise that our society is organized for the benefit of the old dudes who wake up at 5:30 in the morning.

  8. Used to be, freshman and sophomore years of college, I had music theory EVERY DAY at 8:50 am, all two years. I know that 8:50 doesn’t sound so bad…but…it was music theory. I’m still recovering.
