Where There Is Nothing Else to Say, Talk Weather and Knitting

Today’s weather was so warm I took a run in a t-shirt and pants. Something is amiss when your January weather, in the span of five days, goes from ice storm to snowman weather to 50 degrees, and then is predicted to be in the negatives by the weekend.

Tonight, thunderstorms rumble over us the way they do in the summertime, the kind wherein I check on Ethan’s sleep after every burst of lightning and thunder. And not being a scientist, I blame it on the Earth’s shifting plates.

I expect to have the Skully bag (of my own haphazard design) felted and blocked by tomorrow, and completely finished by the weekend. I have also started a shadow scarf (alternating two balls of long-repeat yarn by two rows, carrying up the side) with some leftover Kureyon, and bought a heinous amount of Silk Garden #88 to make Klaralund, my first sweater.

In the meantime I have decided that 7:30 am classes do indeed suck unless I nap. But I’m not a good napper. It’s only one semester, right?

  1. I noticed from your blogroll that you’re also a Wendy Knits reader — I don’t know if you recall, but she did a Klaralund knit-along not too long ago, and if I remember correctly, there may have been some fiddly bits/erratta? in the pattern. It may be a good idea to check back through her Klaralund entries to see what she ran into while knitting it.

That being said, it’s a gorgeous pattern! Silk Garden is utterly luxurious. Best of luck with the pattern, and I hope you thoroughly enjoy knitting it up. 🙂

  2. I totally want to learn to knit. I tried crochet years ago and made many long strings. And I think once I managed a bookmark. If only I could make my free time consist of NOT sitting at a computer. I also want to learn to quilt. And play the standing bass. And Italian. 🙂

  3. I never learned English grammar because the class was at 7a.m.. I turned up for the final exam and the professor was nice enough to pass me.

Knitting! I have knitted one glove to learn how to knit little finger bags, It has a lovely pattern of snowflakes, but I ran out of wool for the other glove and the finger bags are really really long. I’m looking for an unusual recipient for the glove, or maybe I can frame it to remind me not to always write “on the one hand”,,,,”but on the other hand”. Whatever.

  4. Hello! I’m new to this site, my name is Kristina and I’m a college student. I’m interestsed in feminism – I’m signed up for a History of Feminism seminar this semester, and I hope to minor in Women’s Studies. I was wondering – I enjoy H. D. and Mina Loy, do you know of any similar poets? Also, where are some good places to submit academic papers online? Thanks for your help!
