Points to CBS.com for stepping in instead of hiding behind some BS misapplication about the concept of free speech (hi, AutoAdmit!).
I left comments over there. But same thing essentially Isabel. I am sick and tired of white folks or men or any other dominant group trotting out the ‘ole free speech horse and flogging that mute gelding one more time to get me and my brothers and sisters to shut up cause we’re damn sick of hearing those people use code language for torture, death and oppression of those they think not like them.
Resurgence implies that there was once a subsidence. White Nationalists are everywhere– you just don’t know it. Furthermore, they are very convinced that they are not even racists, they are defending the white race and culture, in their minds. Minorities are ok, they say, but just not in America. Overt racism has never subsided, it’s just that with things like the internet, these people are more comfortable than ever to voice their true feelings without having it hanging around their neck. Those opinions have never really subsided, ever. We are just beginning to see how prominent this ideology has always been. They are not re-surging, we are just able to see for the first time how huge the WN movement in America has always been. It’s funny to note, as Pam does, the “plausible deniability bigots.” Because if you go to a WN site you will see that the most extreme white power people believe that being PC is really the bigotry, that the jewish-multiculturalist agenda domination of american media is responsible for them not being able to say racist things, which, is only racist because of the jewish-multiculturalist propaganda. No joke. There needs to be more interest in the WNs. People dismiss them as irrelevant. But they are out there, and they are strong, and we would go a long way to examine their ideology, to see how they think, because there is more to it than just white power, these people have twisted everything from the constitution to what it even means to be a racist. We are not addressing these issues.
“Overt” being the key. Time was, it was unacceptable to voice racist thoughts except in the company of other racists, or those you thought might share your views. Now, they’re out in full force. There needs to be more interest in the WNs. People dismiss them as irrelevant. But they are out there, and they are strong, and we would go a long way to examine their ideology, to see how they think, because there is more to it than just white power, these people have twisted everything from the constitution to what it even means to be a racist. We are not addressing these issues. David Niewert and Sara Robinson at Orcinus are fighting the good fight. What’s interesting to me is the comments at Pandagon expressing surprise that stories about Hillary Clinton aren’t also having comments shut off. I think it’s not that they aren’t attracting overtly misogynistic comments, it’s more that sexism is so ingrained in the culture, so normalized, that expressions like “bitch” just don’t carry the power to shock that, say, “porch monkey” do.
I might also add that White Nationalists are not just racists. They are also deeply sexist, this is another component of their ideology that gets lost in the mix. For example, WNs beleive that encouraging white women to go to college only takes the place of white men that should be going to college. White women getting high paying jobs takes away from the white men that should be getting those jobs. Taking the white women away from their “traditional” role as baby factories destroys the race. Suffrage for women is also seen as a component of the “downfall” of the white man. To them, this is an effort to put the white man down, to put him in a position where white women will not want to be with him because he is not well paid, wields no political power, influence etc., and therefore is unattractive as a mate. As a result, his race and culture will fall apart. Society and the “propaganda media” in their view, is intentionally “sissyfying” the white man while constantly generating the image of the black man as the ultimate masculine symbol. The end result being that white men are less and less attractive as a mate, while the black man becomes increasingly attractive to white women. Ultimate result? You guessed it, the downfall of the white race. All this is done in furtherance of a “multiculturalist” conspiracy to destroy the white race and white identity. Of course, target number 1 in this endeavor is the destruction of the white man. The white power people in this country are not just interested in racial domination, but also gender subjugation. I know this is all crazy, paranoid, hateful stuff. But it’s stuff that a frightening number of American men and women buy into. While it’s good to know there are people out there combating this, I think it’s time that our leaders begin to address this issue. The ideology is already getting dangerously mixed in with ‘mainstream’ conservative ideology to the point where attacking racism is almost seen as an attack on conservatives. If these two movements continue to grow together, we will be faced with a situation where you will be called a bigot for attacking racism. It has already started, as illustrated by Pam’s post, we need to stop it before it’s too late . . .

As a result, his race and culture will fall apart. This is because the roots of the WN come from poor whites, who have always felt at the wrong end of the stick socially, even during slavery. They perceived then that the bondsman had it better than he as at least the bondsman was guaranteed eats and a place to sleep, which was oftentimes a difficulty in and of itself for unlanded poor southern whites. Especially the practice of cultivating skilled craftsman among bondspeople to supplant the higher ticketed white craftsman. This of course has moved into modern vitriol about immigrants, but with the same flavor and usually attracting the same class of people. Many poor whites who had a future in manufacturing have seen their livelihoods erode and find themselves working alongside or below women, who in the traditional family model, stayed at home because dad could support the whole family. Although they should be angry at the elites, the Republicans, starting with Reagan have effectively tapped into this seething rage and harnessed it. The unions effectively abandoning workers in the seventies only made Reagan’s job easier. The advent of propaganda news tv has helped the movement along considerably. Yes, it is dangerous, very dangerous and very threatening to ever having a stable democracy. I agree that it is high time the left got onto this issue, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon as the activist left still cannot/will not connect to middle/working class Americans in a meaningful way.
I said they had a future in manufacturing, I also wish to add the trades. I work in the trades and I can tell anyone without batting an eye that nearly everyday I am with another tradesperson (always a white male), I hear the same bullshit story of how the world is coming to an end because illegals are running wild and working for 6 bucks an hour doing trades work. Its mostly founded on myth, but the ‘you just took my pie and their ain’t no more’ is very real.
