Yet Another Reason to Hate Microsoft

Create a blog on MSN Spaces and Microsoft owns you.

From the MSN Spaces Terms of Use:

For materials you post or otherwise provide to Microsoft related to the MSN Web Sites (a ‘Submission’), you grant Microsoft permission to (1) use, copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, modify, translate and reformat your Submission, each in connection with the MSN Web Sites, and (2) sublicense these rights, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Microsoft will not pay you for your Submission.

It’s kind of like Creative Commons, only instead of attributing the work, they get to sodomize you with a steel baton.

Don’t forget, if the government doesn’t like what you have to say, MS will gladly shut you down for them.

Why get a blog through MSN when there are still great, totally FREE alternatives available, such as Blogsome or my past love, Blogger?

What is their definition of profanity? My IT department blocks a whole slew of feminist blogs, claiming that they are “pornography” and “profanity” (Feministing, Mythago, Pam from Pandagon (but not the Pandagon site itself), and many others). But I can’t for the life of me figure out what is profane/pornographic on those sites that isn’t here, or on my own blog.
