The White House: A Year in Photos

Love this.

  1. I really like how this humanizes Obama. Too often the leader of a nation is reduced to a figurehead, and we don’t get to see the palpable, just, powerful life present inside of them.
Instead of photo journalism depicting the politics of a leader, it shows the raw emotion and variety present in the day to day activities of the president of the United States.

It is really a good way to inspire hope and optimism, even if one is feeling a bit down about the state of, well, you know. Everything.

  2. I really enjoyed these photos, but they also made me feel rather voyeuristic– especially those shots that had clearly been taken from outside a window, looking in. Artsy, but creepy too.
