Sarah Haskins Blow Out

In case you’ve missed them, below are two new Target Women videos for your viewing pleasure.

First up, Lifetime!

(Click here if you can’t view the embedded video.)

You know, I’m sure that the dogs reenacting scenes from famous movies is actually supposed to be a joke on the part of Lifetime (Right? Someone please tell me they’re not serious), but I really do have to agree with Sarah that it ought to be illegal, nonetheless. Somewhere. Soft-core dog porn = so not cool.

And next, Snapped!

(Click here if you can’t view the embedded video.)

I’d so never heard of this show before, but I’m also so not surprised.

What’s going to cause you to snap? I think that for me, it’s quite obviously going to be my Beatles obsession. Though it could just be that boring old standby, feminism.

And now that you’ve had your laughs, have I yet found a way to casually mention that I met Sarah Haskins this weekend at WAM? That, in fact, when Jill and I met her, she was extraordinarily kind enough to buy us drinks? No, I haven’t yet found a way to casually mention that?

Well now seems like the perfect time for casual mentioning! Complete with pictures!

(L to R) Amanda Marcotte, Sarah Haskins, Cara Kulwicki, Jill Filipovic

See, you can tell it’s me because I’m a dork who still has her name tag on!

Anyway, she was super nice and gracious despite the dozens of very excited feminists hounding her, even claiming that she knew what Feministe was. Jill and I agreed that she’s pretty much exactly the same in real life as she is in her videos. Seriously, she’s just naturally funny. Only got to spend a few minutes with her of course, but it was grand!

Oh, and her keynote on Saturday was also hilarious. She taught us how to make our own Target Women videos. If only it were that easy!

  1. So jealous! Sarah is awesome. I’ve actually started watching Infomania because of her, not just the Target: Women segments. It’s funny (ok, it can be a little obnoxious now an then, but I think of it as Onion obnoxious, not Something Awful obnoxious) and I look forward to the new episodes!

    Keep it up, Sarah!

(I’m still waiting for a Target: Women “The Color Pink”)

  2. She’s tall. And she was a little surprised that so many people mentioned that when they saw her in person.

  3. As others have said, she is tall — although I am also really short. And this picture was taken from a terrible angle, since you can see part of my boob/bra where my button-down short was buckling. Oops. Don’t tell Althouse!

  4. Yes, the way you are thrusting your chest towards Sarah, plus that coy look on your face, clearly indicates your loose morals and desire to have sex with funny women. Whore.

  5. It’s true. Although in my defense, I was just trying to upstage Cara in whoriness — I mean, just look at that nametag she’s wearing! She is clearly PURPOSELY trying to draw all of our eyes to her breasts. And of course when we look, she’ll yell at us that her eyes ARE UP HERE. Feminazi.

  6. Haha, you know, I totally did not even notice your boob until you pointed that out. I just thought the shirt was actually unbuttoned to that point, and it was a cami underneath . . .

  7. I really wish I could say that Sarah Haskins bought me a drink… *harumph* But, really, had I stayed at the bar for even 2 minutes longer, I might have fallen asleep on her lap or something, which is probably not the best impression to make on ANYBODY.

  8. Ahh, I do so love it when you post these videos. They’re hilarious, to say the least, but also a bit thoughtful. I’ve never watched a scrubber/swiffer commercial the same way ever since seeing her video on it.

Also, wow, Snapped? Huh. Good thing I don’t watch much TV.

  9. Sarah is hilarious, cutting, and she makes her work universal in a way that makes women laugh and male opinions change for the better. Swoon!

  10. Sarah Haskins is awesome; I keep on rewatching her old episodes, it’s so great to see the new ones.

Though I have to admit, Snapped is one of my nonfeminist guilty pleasures — I’d been wondering what other feminists thought about it for a while…

  11. Did anyone else noticed that all of the women featured on “Snapped” were the thin, pretty, petite (“petite,” “petite,” “petite,” good Lord), popular, quarterback-marrying types? Score one for the chunky high-school outcasts! Look who’s not murdering her husband and getting thrown in prison now, bitchez!

  12. I’m a 60 year old man, who,by chance, discovered Current TV and Sarah Haskins. Her social commentary is fantastic, and I find her absolutely hilarious. Watched her hour long special with my wife ,who agreed with me that her stuff on Snapped,Lifetime, and Weddings was priceless. We both hope she keeps it up,as her insights and humour are quite refreshing. Thank-You Current TV, and Thank-You,Sarah.
