Bird Watching

Never let it be said that cats are not good with children. E and Pablo hang out together every day, especially bird and rabbit watching out the window in Ethan’s room. Pablo and Ethan regularly seek one another out for company and attention.

Last week, I found Pablo laying on a great big pile of paper, all of which turned out to be notes to Pablo written by Ethan, saying, “I Love You Pabby.” The cat seemed quite pleased to sit atop his paper love nest.

I’ve never seen a cat respond to a child this way, hence one reason why my cat kicks such royal ass.

Such pride in my little family.

  1. We had a big fat Siamese that used to be really good with us kiddies. One of my current cats is a possibly autistic British White that seems to have formed an intense for 1) me, and 2) peeing on the garbage can.

  2. Thank you for this beautiful post and beautiful picture – the part about the cat laying on the love notes – and the thought of the child writing them – you must have a very nice home life.

  3. Our Pablo-ish kitty is very unsure how he feels about Roni’s toddler. He’s curious, but he wishes she wouldn’t move or talk or look at him. Our Siamese on the other hand has recently decided that she’s awesome because everytime she eats a cookie, she makes crumbs and we never feed her cookie bits.

  4. The dog worships me because I feed and walk her. I also feed the cat, but he has a mind meld with my son, and wants to be wherever he is at all times. Only when the kid is away does the cat turn to me for love :>)
