Feministe Seattle Get-Together: Dec. 29th

-Moving this up-

I don’t know about you, but I could use a good party right about now — so Holly and I are throwing one! We’re both in Seattle for the next few days, and will be hosting a Feministe get-together on Dec. 29th at Deluxe. So spread the word and bring other Feministe-friendly friends.

The get-together will be held at 8:30 at Deluxe Bar & Grill. Deluxe is located at 625 Broadway East, and as far as I know it’s all-ages, so those of you who are under 21 shouldn’t have a problem. I’ve never been there, but a commenter recommended it, and as soon as I read “best burgers in Seattle” and “a diverse microbrew selection,” I was sold.

Plan for 8:30pm. Hope some of you can make it! And if not, Holly and I will have a grand old time boozing by ourselves.

  1. Son of a bitch, I’m working that night and the next morning, or I’d totally make the drive up.
How long are you guys in town, anyhow?
I mostly only know bars in Capitol Hill, but I do know some good ones, so.

  2. Well, if you’re expecting a crowd, Jillian’s is nice. Lots of room, friendly staff, plenty of pool tables, games, and tables. It’s near South Lake Union, so it does fail the “centrally located” test, but the South Lake Union Trolley runs from Pacific Place to Lake Union Park until 11pm on Saturday, and I’ve heard that the SLUT is free until the end of December.

  3. Don’t mind me. I’ll just be down here in San Francisco with the dog.

Have fun, both of you. And happy new year!

  4. I vote for Kells in Post Alley downtown. Great environment, has Guinness, and has food for those that aren’t into bars. It’s a real pub.

  5. amazing! you guys have a great time!

i always recommend rosebud, but after a point it gets hard to have too many people. amazing ambiance, ridiculous fancy cocktails, or dirt cheap wells ($3!) very glam in an unassuming way.

  6. Oh Crap! I was hoping for a get-together but I am headed for the coast for New Year’s on the 29th. Have fun without me, and may I suggest Jillian’s is a bit to sports-barish for a get-together, but that’s just me.

  7. Bah! The one night post-Christmas where everyone we didn’t see is hosting a party.

Jillian’s is nice, but it can get pretty fratboy-ish in there. However, there are many pool tables and my beloved air hockey, which generally makes up for the overwhelming brah factor. The DeLux at the north end of the Broadway strip is good, as is Charlie’s on Broadway. The Canterbury on 15th is nice (Olympia on tap!), and I also liked Moe Bar, but it’s a bit small. It’s too bad you missed my beloved and short-lived Pony (in the old Cha Cha/Bimbo’s space)– good drinks, and more 70s gay porn on the walls than you could ever believe.

Hope you all have a wonderful time!

  8. I wish I could go, but I think it’d result in a hotel stay.  (I live in Portland, and would want to have beers, and I don’t know the transit that well yet.)

I’ll keep an eye out should yall ever decide to visit Portland.  🙂

  9. Is this the kinda thing anyone can go to if we are fans of the site? Or is it only for people who regularly comment? Cause it sounds like alot of fun but I’m kinda nervous that everyone who goes will already be close friends and I’d be totally awkward!

  10. Jrockerqueen, anyone can come. None of us know each other at all, so it won’t be weird or awkward — or at least it’ll be weird and awkward for all involved. Hope you can make it!

  11. Oooh! I love the suggestion of the DeLuxe. We live near there and it’s our favorite place to go for burgers. And they have my favorite cider ever on tap.

Of course, on Saturday night *any* bar is going to be insane, but there ya go. Of course there’s the option of someplace like Victrola or Remedy Teas, but I have no idea what they’re like on Saturday night.

    MKK

  12. XtinaS, I’d be up for organizing a Portland meetup sometime soon–I think guestblogging empowers me enough to put a little sign on a table at a bar–if there were enough people interested. I could do with some feminist-flavored troublemakin’.
    Any takers?

  13. Adding, can it be a place that also serves food so I can come? I’m underage and wee at 19. Totally understand if this doesn’t work out, though.

  14. Ok, I’m looking into spaces and will post a location soon. I’ll look for something with food so that everyone can come.

As for Portland, I actually am going to be there on Dec. 30th, but it’s a family thing so I don’t know if I can escape that night. However, I will ask. Would people be doing for a get-together on the 30th?

  15. Okay, I’m planning on coming and will come to Deluxe. I’m not exactly sure what anyone looks like, though…will you be holding big FEMINISTE signs or something? (kidding!)

  16. Jill: I’d be up for a get-together on the 30th, should you be able to evade your family for a time.

little light: I’d totally go!  I need to get out of the house more, and it sounds like fun.

In general: Holy crap, how long has it been possible to hide a comment by control-clicking on the username??

  17. Oh, man, at the Deluxe? Y’all are lucky. I love that place.
Jill, I wouldn’t feel good about dragging you away from family. If something happens, I’ll drop by–I know I’ve got really early work the next morning, but I can manage–but don’t go out of your way, you know? It’ll all work out eventually.
Besides, I’m still a little wobbly from all this illness, myself.

  18. It is still at Deluxe. If something changes, we will let you all know. I will be the short girl with wavy brown hair and a nose ring.

(We’ll try to tell someone up at the front where the Feministe party is at, and you can ask them where to find us).

And Little Light, I am more than happy to escape the fam for a few hours. I’ll put up a post about a Portland meet-up as soon as I get clearance from pops.

  19. I have only commented here a few times, I know. But this sounds terribly exciting, and I will almost certainly attempt to stop by, especially as it looks like Deluxe is only a mile and a half away from my apartment.

I may just be joining in the weird-and-awkwardness, but some of my best friends are people from the internet I met in person in a similar manner. I look forward to it!
