In defense of the sanctimonious women's studies set || First feminist blog on the internet

Hola

Hello, my darlings.

It’s Lauren, here for the weekend at Jill’s behest. Although I started this here blog a few years back, I’m most regularly found at Faux Real and occasionally blogging about politics at the mega-parenting site Offsprung with co-blogger Amanda Marcotte.

I can’t believe I signed on to blog on weekends for the rest of September considering I have a few things on my plate, but I will do my best to offer some uncrappy writing, and in turn, make demands of the Feministe community.

To start, I need an animated gif of this cat sneezing.

Update: BONUS! XtinaS delivers in the comments.

  1. Awww! Persian and Siamese in one big mash-up!

This is our late lamented Boris after he got home from having his teeth cleaned by the vet and was still enjoying the aftereffects of the anesthetic:

    Boris is High

  2. OMG, my cat Xander jumped up onto my desk about a minute into this video trying to find out where the noise was coming from. That is freakin awesome!

  3. I love red dresses! I’ve been trying to find the perfect one for years now, but I think I’m too picky, because I haven’t found one yet. Maybe when it appears, it will be a sign that I’m ready to get hitched. 🙂

  4. I wish I had a video camera, because Junebug did the head-tilt at every new miaou. Then she tried to look under the laptop for the kitty.

  5. Really cute cat! What a round head!

Having been owned by two cats for over 14 years now, I was translating the meows in my head…”What are you doing with that video camera? Come here and pet me! Or at least feed me. Or better yet, pet me while feeding me!”

  6. Oh yeah, my cat freaked out at the new cat meows. She jumped into the window, where a neighborhood cat usually sits and irritates her. (She’s a spoiled, only cat who really, really doesn’t like other cats.)

But she does the same routine when I’m on the phone with my SO, and he meows back at her. RACE to the window, jump up, and STARE, looking for that ‘other’ cat.

  7. My cats did usually try to find the meows (their own meows) on my computer, but were more interested in swatting animated banners. They also, when I was voice chatting with my mom, looked for ME. Heh heh heh.

I need to share this video with everyone now.

  8. I had to give my not so bright cat a time out when he started hissing/menacing at my smart cat that was trying to figure out where the nose was coming from.

  9. Lauren:

If I were even the tiniest bit more proficient with animated .gif editing, I’d make it so that it looks like it’s rapping.  All it needs is a record being scratched in the background…

Even though I made it, I’m still cracking up over it.
