In defense of the sanctimonious women's studies set || First feminist blog on the internet

9 thoughts on Well this is a fantastic idea.

  1. After a school-wide debacle over a gossip blog this year at my high school, I’m glad to see a trashy gossip blog will be following me when I go off to NYU next year. Really. I’m thrilled.

  2. you have way too much nyu pride recently

your freaking mascot is a color! (the color purple no less!)

(i attended nyu undergrad for one year)

  3. Speaking of gossip, do you guys have a “suggest a story” link anywhere? Because someone just sent me this:

    Nevada Appeal

Carson District judge calls offense ‘natural impulse’
“These kinds of offenses are problems with impulse control,” said Carson City District Judge Bill Maddox prior to sentencing. “When I say that, it’s my understanding that most men are sexually attracted to young women. When I say young women I don’t just mean women that … you should be attracted to. I mean women from the time they’re 1 all the way up until they’re 100.”

My jaw dropped enough that I figured it was worth passing along. I think there are a lot of interesting things that could be said about the odd variability of age of consent laws and the extreme demonization of pedophiles and all sorts of other stuff. But this judge’s take on it is just like… whoa…. what the hell…. 1 to 100?!

  4. Ok, this is TOTALLY off-topic, but have any of you Americans ever seen these?

I’ve never seen them. From the label, it looks like they might be local to Philadelphia — maybe one of the Philly bloggers could help you? Fred at Slacktivist has a few under “Love Park” on the front page of his site.

  5. It’s a 16 year old bag, by the copyright, and I can’t find a listing in the phone book for that restaurant, so I imagine it’s defunct. It’s way up in North Philly though, close to the end of the subway line, and I rarely get up there, so I can’t tell you for sure.
