Your Weekly New Wave September 4, 2006 zuzu New Order. Enjoy. I won’t even discuss this bit of nonsense.
I am so very young: I first heard that song in the late ’90s, as a cover done by Orgy. Also – Weimaraner!
I love that song, interesting remix kind of thing. I had no access to television when it was popular, so the video is a first.
It’s not a remix, it’s the original, in all its arty New Wave glory (with Weimaraners!). Orgy’s version is the cover.
Speaking of things New Wave, I just saw The English Beat last night at Bumbershoot and it was an absolute blast! I haven’t jumped up and down and danced so much in ages! Okay, I know The English Beat straddles a number of genres (reggae, ska/skiffle, pop, etc.), but I’ve always considered them part of New Wave…the label’s rather protean in my view.
Saw them in NYC last year, they closed with super-long, remix-y version of that song. They are very funny guys actually (at least in terms of on-stage banter), nothing like what you’d expect if you listen to “Blue Monday” or, even better, Joy Division.

Actually, that’s prety well exactly what I except from them. You can’t play that kind of music your whole life it you don’t have a sense of humour. Otherwise you end up like Ian Curtis.
