Of All The …

I found out this morning that Pepe, the guy at the deli who makes me my breakfast most mornings, has been under the impression for quite some time that I worked for la migra.

Odd choice of a practical joke from one of his coworkers. Actually, I’d been wondering why Pepe had been cordial and courteous but didn’t joke with me like he did his other customers.

Thanks a lot, Jose.

  1. My wife, that super-white, blond/blue Polish-American, speaks fluent Spanish. Early in our relationship, she asked me why the Colombian shopkeepers where she worked would never speak Spanish to her.

  2. He asked me about my work at Immigration, and I said, “Huh? I don’t work for Immigration.” And the other guy at the counter started cracking up.

  3. Wait, do I just not get it? Why is this something to console her about? It sounds fucking hilarious.

  4. Eh, maybe it’s just me, but I would be kinda disappointed to find out some guy was probably terrified of me because he thought I was from immigration. At least, that’s the attitude I gathered from the post.
