I can’t believe that with everything that’s going on in the world right now, THIS is what I chose to spend my time on. What’s great is that I manage to simultaneously ignore some truly serious shit going on right now that ACTUALLY affects WOMEN and their LIVES, and ALSO mock the work of great thinkers like Judith Butler that is VERY IMPORTANT to a lot of women who take feminism SERIOUSLY. Right now, small woodland creatures are exposing themselves to innocent onlookers–CHILDREN, even–and trying to impose a sciuridaephallocentric worldview on a competition that’s gender-loaded enough as it is, and no one seems worried enough to cover it, on this or any other quote-feminist-unquote blog. It’s obvious that I neither notice nor care what’s important to my readers. Obviously, this blog isn’t intended for real, serious feminists, so I’m going to go off and find one that is. Don’t bother trying to apologize. I shan’t be back.
God, I’m so sorry. I just had a really long day at work, and I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, and my boyfriend scratched some of the non-stick stuff off of the omelet maker, and I’m really stressed out. Please ignore what I just said.

Btw, Ryan Gosling is totally a feminist, for a definition of feminist which includes “Hollywood men who say anti-misogynist things once or twice while simultaneously avoiding any truly heinous public sexism.”
I was linked to this during application prep for PhD programs. It was a welcomed and hilarious distraction. Actually thought of Feministe when I first saw it 🙂
I saw the Ryan Gosling link this weekend and loved it. I think it is funny and not just because I heart Ryan Gosling. And my husband has now taken to calling RG my “boyfriend.” If only.
I think it’s probably a fallacy that everybody likes to cuddle? (But I do love cuddling and dedicate a lot of time to it myself so I’m not the person to speak confidently r.e. cuddle-not-lovers.) Caperton, you are fully entitled to some restorative amusement on occasion. No one’s activism benefits from emotional burn out, to my mind.
Applause for both Posts #1 and #2. But whoever thought it was a good idea to try that tie-in to Virginia Woolf… no. Just, no.
