Good Smell Perplexes New Yorkers

No, really. Because it gets confusing when the streets here don’t smell like shit.

  2. ha! i’m so used to gross and bizarro city smells, it’s kind of scary. today the bathroom in my non-profit office (and by office i mean run-down second floor apartment…i don’t even want to think about how much my agency pays for that shithole) reeked of dirty cat box. what did we do? nothing, really. just hoped it would be gone by monday.

i’d take maple syrup any day…..

  4. I live in Brooklyn, on the same block as a bakery. In the morning I’m treated to the smell of breads and pastries being prepared, then to bacon and eggs as I pass by a diner/coffee shop on my way to the train. I start every morning with a homey contentment; a contentment from which I’m jolted, every morning, the instant I step down into the train stop–by the sensation my face is being peeled off from the atmosphere.

  5. It was confusing… I was walking down 17th and was like “Er? It smells like pancakes!” and my boyfriend called me crazy. It’s nice to know I’m relatively sane.
