Gmail September 14, 2005 Lauren I’m looking for a Gmail account. If anyone has an extra they’d like to share, please let me know.
You’ve probably already gotten the invitation you need, but for future reference Gmail recently changed their policy so that anyone with a mobile phone that can receive text messages (or a friend with such a mobile phone who can relay the text message to them) can sign up for an account without needing an invite. Enjoy the wonders of Gmail!
I’m also assuming you’ve already gotten several invitations; otherwise, I’d sent you one. I, personally, have a second Gmail account that does nothing but store daily WP backups that one of my plugins generates and emails to it. Handy stuff.
best part of gmail is conversation view – it’s so much better than any other email interface ever. And I like that you can forward you email out of their site without paying. And it works.
Gmail is no longer by invitation only. Anyone can sign up for it without an invite. It’s been public for a couple of weeks.
*snickers, imagining the hail of incoming e-mail account invitations* *goes back to lurking after a brief post or two*
I love gmail!! For future reference for anyone who wants one, they’re exceedingly easy to come by. Just do a search and you should find something. If you like paying for stuff you can get for free as long as it’s a little more convenient, you could buy one of approximately 100 million on ebay. I think they sell for like 10 cents apiece. Also, supposedly if you’re affiliated with a university and have an email address ending in .edu, you can go here: http://services.google.com/university/ to get an invitation.
