  1. FYI to Jill and others interested,

I spotted the Jets to Brazil in the list this week and thought to pass along that Blake Schwarzenbach, singer & writer of Jets as well as Jawbreaker, has somewhat recently gotten back into music and perfroming. He hooked up with another punk Legend Aaron Cometbus to form the new band Thorns of Life.

Here is this video from Blake Schwarzenbach in NYC on his own.

As for the new band this link is the first of four songs posted on Youtube from a recent LA show can give you an idea on his new stuff. And for a change the live audio is pretty good in quality.

Considering the percentage of music on my iPod consisting of Rap, that the first 3 songs came up rap songs is a statistical anomoly.

  4. The Reverend Gary Davis, “I’m Throwin’ Up My Hand;” Sonic Youth, “I Love Her All The Time;” The Ramones, “I Don’t Care” (Demo); Nirvana, “Drain You;” Billy Bragg & Wilco, “She Came Along to Me;” Blind Willie McTell, “Death Cell Blues;” Bob Dylan, “Pledging My Time;” Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, “Blue Yodel No. 1;” The Mekons, “Gin Palace;” Bill Monroe, “Soldier’s Joy;” Sonic Youth, “Rain On Tin.”

Once again, I’m reminded how much music I don’t even know I have in iTunes.
