#solidarityisforwhitewomen tertiary thread: WOC commentors only

Several regular readers/commentors have suggested that, due to some derailings and erasures of WOC on the primary thread, a third thread specifically for WOC commentors to contribute feedback/analysis regarding the #solidarityisforwhitewomen hashtag and the history behind it is needed. This is that thread.

[Content note: comments may include mentions of Hugo Schwyzer, suicide & murder attempts, self-harm, manipulative abuses]

Seven Questions I Asked My Parents About My Abortion

This summer, I did something that I’ve been putting off for eight years: I sat down and talked to my parents about how they handled my abortion. We’ve talked about my abortion before, a sentence here or there, but usually it’s in the context of a larger conversation about something that’s going on in politics or the news. The most we’ve ever talked about it is when I’ve talked about my feelings about my abortion. I have never given my parents the space to talk about how it affected them, never gave them a platform to talk about their own feelings. I think this is because I had been carrying a load of resentment for a long time.

#SolidarityIsForWhiteWomen secondary thread

In this other thread, there’s a place for discussion of the #solidarityisforwhitewomen hashtag, Hugo Schwyzer, and accountability / abuse / justice in feminism. This particular thread is a place to discuss the hashtag, feminism, accountability, race and all of those things without a discussion of Hugo, suicide or self-harm, as those topics are triggering to many of our community members and I want to make sure that this discussion is open and accessible to everyone.

Selfless Signal-Boosting Wednesday

This thread is for links to pieces on other people’s blogs that you have found delightful/memorable/provoking recently. Please save the self-promotion links for a Shameless Self-Promotion Sunday thread – use this thread to let Feministe readers know about the other blogs you love to read, especially those on the margins of the mainstream social justice communities, who tend to not get as much exposure as they should.

The blog is back!

For now, the server is rebooted and I, at least, can see the blog. Can the rest of you see it too?
