  1. I am sure it will be a bad thing for some. It all depends on your perspective. However, I definitely want to point out how they make the clain that it is “illegal’ immigration “pouring over the borders” that is responsible– and mentions nothing of natural birthrate.

  2. I am becoming more and more convinced that the shift in our culture to the right is being driven, in part, by the fear of the (I use a generalization here) middle-aged white guys. These people are on some subconscious level all about wet themselves over the prospect of being a minority. Hence, anti-immigration and righty tighty whitey fundamentalist whining.

We maybe witnessing the opening rounds of a societal reordering.

  3. If we started today and stopped treated minorities like subordinate species which exist solely to lick the shit off the majority’s boots, in 40 years, even if she was a racial minority, maybe being in the minority wouldn’t suck as much as it does today.

  4. I have to say that this white woman simply doesn’t get it (it being the supposed emotional appeal of an ad like this). Globally, I’m already a minority, and the idea of not being the Bestest Ethnic Group Ev-Ah doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Indeed, I am often _glad_ of my brown hair and dark eyes when I travel — I stick out less.

I think it says _a LOT_ about how these people perceive the duties and obligations of the majority towards minority groups: they are frightened because they assume that because they are all hating on currently minority groups, that they will be hated on when the numbers shift.

So the answer is less hating, not more white people.

  5. yikes,.

i love this assumption that the U.S. is “white”, like it it’s owned by white people and white people should naturally dominate. and of course “diversity” is just tolerating inferiority, which you shouldn’t have to do once inferiority starts to dominate…vomit.

  6. Unfortunately I grew up in rural Ohio surrounded by these thoughts. They confused and depressed me then, and they continue to anger me now. Most of these folks are convinced that someone else is the cause of their unhappiness, lack of jobs, inability to have the American Dream they feel like they’re entitled to, so they blame it on people who look different from them instead. And it doesn’t hurt that “middle America” is about as homogenous as a gallon of milk.

  7. I’ve been a minority – my high school was in one of the least white parts of Oakland. 1600 students, 20 white, the majority of the rest African American. White was the worst thing you could call anyone. I learned a lot in that situation, and I don’t think whites being a minority would be a bad thing. Maybe we’d even manage to stop beng such a monolingual culture.

Different cultures have a lot to learn from each other. There is a lot of fear, but it’s fear of the unknown – if you’ve lived in a bastion of white, upper-middle-class America your entire life, other races moving in will be scary and not welcome. The white students at my high school adapted, got by, made friends, and it wasn’t a problem for the most part. We just have to get acclimated to a new kind of world view. It will take a while (obviously, considering some of the “keep the race pure” crap I’ve seen) but it will happen eventually.

  9. Thought like this wouldn’t even occur to me if it weren’t for this kind of propaganda. And my reaction when it does? Something like Alley Rat’s.

  10. If she represents the demographic group “naked babies left out in fields to fend for themselves,” I sure as shit hope that she’s a minority in the next 40 years.

  11. I want to thank these people. There’s an Irish toast that goes, “Those that hate us: may God turn their hearts. But if he won’t turn their hearts, let Him at least turn their ankles, so we may know them by their limping.”

I wish everyone who thought like this were so honest. They stand right out, and we don’t have to deal with a cloud of spin and PR to convince people what the really stand for.

  12. So . . . whose fault is it that being a minority is a disadvantage? Who’s been making it difficult for minorities to achieve equality?

If we make minorities equal, then you will be equal when you are a minority.

And the diversity is one of my favorite things at my college. The sole person that ever made me uncomfortable at school was white.

In regards to their silly what-if question, Mexicans would probably be celebrating diversity if making them a minority did not reduce their status.

Personally, I wish I had grown up in a more racially diverse environment—I still suffer from a sort of subconscious culture shock that makes me shy(er) around people who are different from me, having grown up in a town where all-white, all-Christian, all-straight was “normal.” (BORING!) I also wish *I* had more racial diversity; I wish I had darker hair, darker skin, and a heritage that I found as interesting as I find Native American or East Asian cultures. Ahh, well.

This poster is bullshit. (And if her parents leave her in the field too long, she’ll probably find some.)

  13. If this did not “reach out and touch” many where they keep their moral outrage, then it would be really funny.

Funny a nation of immigrants which hate immigrants!

Funny the legals and the illegals both come here for the same reason they want to share in the “American good life”, yet we are to beleive that once they get here they want to destroy that good life so that so that the established “Born Heres” don’t get to have it.

I know that J Swift was speaking generally, but I have to say I am a middle aged white guy and the only things that scares me are “pretty women and the police” . (BTW that is a quote from a movie)

  14. One simply has to laugh at the pathetic attempt of the American Renaissance folks to scare the living bejeezus out of white people. Oh gee, you’ll be the minority. Well guess, what? In California, white people already are – but I don’t think it matters much as far as the sharing of power and the distribution of wealth are concerned. Then again considering how badly this white male patriarchal power structure has treated – and continues to treat minorities – maybe they finally understand the chickens are coming home to roost.

Also the problem isn’t illegal immigration – it’s the continuing policies of the WHITE MALE power structure that feels the need to keep the money and the power in their own hands. It’s the fact that it’s the WHITE MALE power structure who are hiring illegal immigrants and outsourcing American jobs at an unprecedented rate. But hey, let’s ignore those facts and use this ‘child’ to scare white people into thinking they’re going to be made into slaves or something.

Although there are quite a few white men I’d love to have as pleasure slaves…any takers?

  15. “Although there are quite a few white men I’d love to have as pleasure slaves…any takers?”

    Somebody’s playing my song.

  16. A minority? Well good for her. I’ve heard so many (male, but let’s ignore that for the moment) whites whine about horrible things like affirmative action as though they’d been beaten up and had their lunch money stolen. Every day for all of their lives. “I didn’t get that [job/college admision/promotion/award/blahblahblah] because they had to give it to some [minority member]. Reverse discrimination! Minorities have it so good – they get handed everything for free…”

So since being a minority is so great, since things like affirmative action more than make up for entire lives of being on the other side of privilege and in fact for laboring on that side all these ages before even this effort was attemted, well frankly I think these racists ought to be dancing in the streets.

A minority! Finally! Now our white children can get the free ride enjoyed by all those [favorite racial slur] scum…

Congratulations, you’ve made it. Haven’t you? I’d think you’d be *paying* your darker neighbors to have just one more kid.

    Gad.

  17. Oh my gosh, I was just going to say what pig said.

Yep, those white power folks should be excited that they’ll finally be able to cash in on that affirmative action “privilege”!

  18. I can’t see any reason that I as a white person should favor the kids who are classed as the same race as me over the ones who are actually most closely related to me.

  19. I attend one of the most racially diverse universities in the USA. The Filipino Student group has more members than most other clubs and organizations on campus, and guess what? Very little racial friction!

White people, at this school, do not have a clear majority. I could whine about how badly I’ve suffered as a white person here, but that would be pointless, especially since the hardest things that have happened to me have been, 1) I had to find out where Guam is, cause I got a crush on a woman who was born there 2) I learned a little bit about how to cook Thai food 3) I learned how to properly wrap a sari.

This diversity thing really hasn’t been that bad for me. I don’t see what those white people are so afraid of.

  20. Forgive my apparent flippancy, but being from the most isolated city in the world – the image of ‘escaping to Mexico’ is like a mirage of an oasis in the desert of my existence.

The ad is awful of course, how sad that people can live their lives unable to love and appreciate other cultures, how starved they are of the richness of life.

  21. Minority, majority………it’s all an accident of birth. Maybe between now and them the stupid gene will be bred out of people and they will realize everone bleeds the same color.

  22. Somehow I unfortunately have my doubts, Buffalo. We’ve had a few thousand years of recorded civilization to get the stupid gene out of the gene pool, and so far, we’ve yet to succeed.

  23. Since these white supremacists multiply like bunnies, whereas your higher brain cell count white people tend to embrace the birth control, I think that we have a sort of reverse eugenics going on here. At the current rate of intelligence in white people attrition, we will be rightfully regarded as genetically inferior to all other people within 3 generations, unable to take the time to wipe the drool off our chins after ranting about illegals and Jeebus.

  24. I personally love the way the nationality “Mexican” is conflated with “race”. What, there are no white Mexicans? Or Afro-Mexicans? Or Japanese-Mexicans? Or any number of other kinds of Mexicans?

Nahhhh…..of course, North America is the only place on earth with a racially/ethnically diverse society.

  25. 😉 It is interesting….however Mexican ethnicity certainly does have a flavor…..Mestizo is an interesting concept, idea, and reality……the interesting thing is that its not only true for Mexican’s, but also for Afro-Americans as well…..
