Jeralyn Merritt and Kevin Drum are asking why Obama isn’t giving the press full-time access to his life. I suspect it’s because he realizes that they’re gearing up to take him down.

And why would he think that the press would turn on their golden boy? Oh, I don’t know… maybe because the guy can’t so much as eat breakfast without it becoming “waffle-gate“?

  1. I think you’ve mischaracterized their posts. It didn’t sound to me like they were calling on Obama to give 24/7 access. They pointed out that Obama hasn’t held any press conferences in several days, so the press hasn’t had opportunities to ask him questions in a more normal setting.

  2. It’s disappointing how some of the people at TalkLeft have swung so far to the wrong side of the crazy-O-meter lately — they’re nearly as bad as the wack jobs at No Quarter.

    Even more disappointing that after last week’s Philadelphia debate was almost universally criticized by anyone paying attention, those same petty mountains-out-of-molehill tactics should be effectively championed by folks who used to talk about stuff that was, you know, important.

  6. As someone pointed out at Kevin’s place, Obama is treating the media the same way that Bush does: make them beg for every little crumb he feels like flinging to them and making them look like asses if they protest. Why make him change a strategy that’s been a demonstrated success?
