Random Junebug blogging

The “I can’t believe she doesn’t look like she’s expecting a beating” edition.

Yes, that is the natural position of the ears. Aren’t they adorable? But there’s more:

Note the position of the back legs.

  1. No, she neither pooped on the floor nor used a bag for a chew toy. She just hates the flash, and always decides to put on a “Help! Help! I’m being oppressed!” face when I get out the camera.

  2. And in most of the pictures I post here, her ears are laid back so you can’t see how batty they really are.

  3. That is a lazy sit :p My dog does that too from time to time … then again, he also lays down with his hind legs splayed open like a Christmas turkey, so meh.

  4. I love Junebug pictures, and I will post a comment repeating how much I love Junebug pictures every time I see them. She’s the least hammy dog I’ve ever seen; all the ones I’ve ever had would have had their noses right up against the camera lens.

  5. “Help! Help! I’m being oppressed!”

“Oh, now we see the violence inherent in the system. Come see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I’m bein’ repressed!”

My dog, Mrs. Beasley, does that too – mostly when she gets excited and is showing off how extravagantly she can chew her bone. She would probably be the hammiest ham of a dog I know, if I didn’t know the neighbors’ dog, who likes to climb onto the back of their couch like a mountain lion, perches there on all fours, and starts howling. >_

  7. DiscGrace, are you my neighbor? My gigantic dog firmly believes that, if the cats can lie on the back of the couch to catch some rays, he can use the back of the couch to survey the neighborhood. To which I say, 80 pound dogs and 11 pound cats are not the same thing, but he doesn’t get math, so it’s a constant struggle.

  8. Disclaimer: I am a Big Dog person. My current house- and yard-mate weighs 100 lbs on the light side. I do not generally notice dogs smaller than he is.

That said, my first response to seeing Junebug’s massive bat-ears was to reach out to scritch them through the computer screen. Then I saw the cute little-bitty paddy-paws with the white tips and wanted to bite them very gently. Then I just gave up and cooed.

What a cute little sfuzzi-wuzzy woogle Juney-buggles ooooooo! *dissolves into small puddle*

    *koff*

  9. *sighs happily* I love random Junebug blogging, and I am decidedly a cat person. 🙂 Those ARE the best pictures of her you have ever posted (apart from for the glowing “demon dog from HELL” eyes) — maybe she’s getting the idea that the camera really doesn’t hurt her? Maybe she’s somehow virtually receiving the love that gets slathered all over her likeness whenever the pictures are posted? Who knows what goes on in canine brains?!

Definitely at least part Corgi, and I second the fruit bat/flying fox resemblance. Or one of those desert foxes that are all ears. 🙂 Either way, she is *adorable* and I want to give her belly rubs right through the monitor!

  10. I still need to know what a “Cat Butler” is (in the background of the first picture). Because if it is something that can pet a cat, I think my cats want one. They require someone to pet them while they eat and G. and I are getting a little tired of it.

  11. Is Junebug by any chance part corgi?

I’ve been told she’s part Cardigan. And your doggie’s so cute!

Alas, it’s just a tray with dishes in it, which cuts down on the sweeping. That’s funny about the petting — my mom’s cat required an audience when she ate, and she *did* like to eat in the middle of the night. Unfortunately for her, Mom slept like a rock. Unfortunately for me, when I moved back home for a while after law school, the cat discovered that I’m a fairly light sleeper, I sleep on my back, and if she stood right on my bladder and kneaded, I’d *have* to get out of bed eventually.

Hey Jo, I’m a big dog person too, but not to the exclusion of smaller dogs! Though I have difficulty not wincing at bichons, Toy Poodles, chis etc :/

As far as small goes, most terriers are pretty awesome and there are some decent foo-foo dogs out there – it makes me sad that dog-people often pick sides when it comes to dogs, when really they don’t think they’re that different from one another and didn’t choose their body.

*cough* Anyway, Junebug is adorable! Any idea what’s in her apart from possibly Corgi? (lol, we had a corgi/collie X growing up, man he was funny looking)
