Come ride the SLUT in my hometown

Good God I love Seattle sometimes.

Officially it’s the South Lake Union Streetcar. Within the old Cascade neighborhood, part of the area to be served by the new line, it’s popularly known as the South Lake Union Trolley _ or SLUT.

At Kapow! Coffee, 100 T-shirts bearing the words “Ride the SLUT” sold out in days and another 100 are on order.

“We’re welcoming the SLUT into the neighborhood,” said Jerry Johnson, 29, a part-time barista.

Amazing.

  1. When I lived in Boston in the late 90s, all of the green line streetcars were built by an asian firm called “Kinki.” Needless to say, instead of saying were were taking the train or even taking the “T” we would say we were riding the kinky.

  2. In the Pioneer Valley in western Massachusetts the public transportation system is officially called the PVTA but people call it the PUTA.

  3. ug, our local cable access station’s acronym is SCAT – Somerville Community Access Television. Why does no one think before they name!
