Friday Random Ten – the Unlucky edition

The 25th is my most unluckiest day of the month. So I’m glad it’s the 26th — and that somewhere, it’s Friday the 27th.

Anyone else have unlucky days?

1. Beck – I Get Lonesome
2. Tom Waits – How’s It Gonna End
3. Timbaland and Magoo – Luv 2 Luv U
4. The Rolling Stones – Not Fade Away
5. The Bad Plus – Frog and Toad
6. Art Brut – Rusted Guns of Milan
7. Modest Mouse – Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset
8. The Cramps – Garbageman
9. Death Cab for Cutie – The Employment Pages
10. MC Solaar – Caroline

Friday Random Video: My absolute favorite Yeah Yeah Yeahs song of all time. However, it is a very creepy video.

  1. I don’t really have an unlucky day (although there was one Friday, October 13th about 12 years ago that was pretty shitty). Most of my superstitions are sports-related (don’t talk about the no-hitter, etc.), and most of my phobias are bug-related.

Now for my “Please let me get this job” FRT:

    Artist — “Song”

    Jurassic 5 — “Freedom”
    Sublime — “Live at E’s”
    Thelonious Monk — “Blue Monk”
    Shadowed Beneath — “Fading Regard”
    Opeth — “The Grand Conjuration”
    2Pac — “Fame”
Alison Krauss & Gillian Welch — “I’ll Fly Away”
    Coal Chamber — “Unspoiled”
    The Roots — “Datskat”
Cast of Rent — “Finale B”

Bonus song concerning stuff that isn’t happening enough for me recently:

    Disturbed — “Decadence”

  2. I think I had a French test once for which we had to memorize “Caroline.” Definitely better than Solaar’s “Matière Grasse Contre Matière Grise.” Which I also had to memorize.

  3. oh god I LOVE that art brut song. love love love it!! ah, brits and their cheekiness…

  6. January 11th. Really. 2 years in a row, I got dumped on Jan 11th.

First guy ended up being 20 year great pal vie email; second guy ended up proposing again and again- married for 15 years this fall. Both turned out okay, but I hated January 11th for a few years.

  7. The 23rd. Every month. It’s horrible, really. And the number itself is like a really bad omen anytime I see it…

And I’m not even superstitious. =(

  8. My first boyfriend’s birthday was on the 25th! And all through college, he would break up with me just before Christmas then get back together right after Valentine’s- it was as if he was trying to avoid gifts or something! Last time I saw him, his wife was getting popcorn for a movie and about 15 feet away from us, while he was asking me “how long I was going to be back in town”… yikes.

Avoid the 25th like the plague! haha!
