Have an abortion, go to prison

This is what “pro-life” looks like.

Lawmakers with Mexico’s small Green Party have sent a bill to the Senate that seeks to toughen penalties for illegal abortions, a bid to counteract efforts by leftist legislators to legalize abortion, a senator said Friday.

Green Party Sen. Arturo Escobar said the bill, introduced Thursday, proposes increasing prison sentences – currently between six months to one year – to one to three years for women who have an abortion.

Is there anyone out there who honestly still believes anti-choice leaders and politicians when they say they care about women?

  1. Nope. They lost my trust at “illegal abortions.”

Anyone willing to illegalize abortion does not care about women, no matter how much they try to convince you otherwise. Reducing women to a form of citizenship not even prisoners enjoy + making such a procedure even riskier for women + years of jail time = caring for women? I don’t buy it.

If I remember correctly, Mexico has a rape exception. So that’s another strike.

I can only assume that this means that Mexico’s Green Party is not leftist, and that the “Green” designation means something else in Mexico. Either that, or they’re the Mexican equivalent of these weirdos.

  3. Wiki shows that Mexico’s Green Party is not only ideologically on the right, but that it is also a member of the International Greens, a group that includes the Austrian Greens who are certainly lefty. (I just point the Austrians out because I am most familiar with them)

  4. In the holy name of diversity, these Mexican Greens should be encouraged to come to America! Remember, borders are an illusion. No human being is illegal!

(And plug in whatever slogan you saw displayed at the last pro-illegal immigration rally)

It’s bad enough that Canada made us take David (“axis of”) Frum and Rachel Marsden. I don’t think we need to start importing wingnuts from south of the border as well.

“Not I,” said the Little Red Hen.

Too late, we already got Kos and Gonzales.

Fortunately we sent them back Harvard in reply.

    That*’ll teach ’em!

  9. I really, really apologise for David Frum, Danielle Crittenden (his wife), and the mind-bogglingly loony Rachel Marsden. While we’re at it, I should probably apologise for Celine Dion and Avril Lavigne, too. I promise we didn’t do it on purpose!
