It’s Tom Friedman indeed. That this doesn’t happen to every member of the administration every time they open their mouths is one of the biggest indictments of the national press imaginable. They’ve spent so long doubling back again and again that there’s literally nothing they can say that doesn’t contradict something they said earlier.
