Guestblogging Is Hard Work

This indentured servant was very busy today and will be tomorrow, but do note I have a guest post at Rude Pundit with real content scheduled to appear Friday morning. Yes, it is rude, and no, Mom, you probably don’t want to read it. I kiss you with this filthy mouth.

This may not be what Susie et al. were talking about when they asked us why we don’t blog about sex in their sex blogging panel at BlogHer. I figured we cover the birth control angle enough as it is, and hey, one has to start somewhere.

No comments there, so feel free to bring them back to this post.

  1. Humor is good for all the reasons you stated, but it also sometimes distracts from the seriousness of an issue. It’s great to add to the dialogue, as long as it doesn’t replace meaningful analysis, which is another unfortunate side effect of this “generational thing.”

  2. It’s a good defense, Lauren, and it makes an important generational point. I need reminders constantly of this sort of thing, largely because for all my education and my British passport, I am almost completely incapable of irony. I do sincerity — to the point of an unbecoming smarminess — well. Ironic detachment? It bewilders me.

I’ve read Foucault and Lacan and Cixous. I’ve watched Seinfeld. I’ve done everything I can to immerse myself in the culture of detachment, wry commentary, and biting sarcasm. And dammit all to hell, I just can’t do it. (It’s why I never make good friends with English people.)

It is always nice to have someone do the translating for me, and Lauren, your post today did that well.
