Speaking of tittes….

So I was under the impression that I was gonna have to wear a compression vest for three weeks post-surgery. It’s meant to minimize swelling and encourage my body to start pulling that excess skin back in.

I just found out that I get to wear a compression for three continuous weeks. In other words, they’ll stuff me into it while I’m still unconscious, and take it off when I have my follow-up appointment twenty-one days later. Armpit sponge-baths in a heatwave! I’m gonna have backne so bad it’ll look like smallpox.

And then I get to wear it for another three weeks, round the clock except for short shower breaks.

  1. Dang, I sure didn’t have to wear mine that long after my breast reduction! I feel your pain though, that thing kinda sucks.

  2. You’re gonna think I’m crazy, but the compression garment lessens the pain. I speak from experience!

Pardon me for coming late to the party, but as to the titties, are you having them added or subtracted?

  3. yeesh, didn’t realize you were having this done in the hot weather.

mebbe it’ll cool off by the time you’re in the second phase of recovery, she said, wishing fervently for her own selfish reasons for an unexpected snowstorm herself

  4. Eeeeeeeew. Bacne. Shudders.

Seriously though, I hope your recovery goes swiftly, easily, and as comfortably as possible.

  5. Seriously, for itching disorders check out if Valium will interfere with your other post-op pain relief meds.

Valium saved my sanity when I had shingles about 10 years ago, and ever since I keep a pack on hand so that if I have sciatica or some other really nasty acute pain I can dull the edges of it.

The first pack my doc gave me for my sciatica lasted me five years, so he’s always been happy to keep prescribing me more for emergencies. If you only take a half-tab every 5 hours, it just relaxes your muscles and stops the itching totally stressing you out.

  6. When I had a cast, the only thing that saved my sanity from the itching was one of those old-style non-laser pull-out pointers that folks used to use for blackboard presentations. I could stick it down the cast and just touching the itchy spots seemed to help. I don’t know if you could get it under the compression garment, but I thought I’d at least throw the idea out there.
