Bombings in India

A really sad story out of Mumbai (Bombay): Seven trains are bombed, killing hundreds of people.

  1. People are pointing fingers at Kashmiri militants, but also note that organised crime has previously carried out similiar bombings in Mumbai, so we just don’t know.

The Mumbai rail system carries 6 million commuters a day. Wow.

  2. Well there was a flap over a statue of a Hindu Nationalist party being smeared with mud just before all of this started and there were Hindus in Mumbai destroying property and businesses own by Muslims. My Girlfriend was there and her host family hustled her out to the airport and got her on an early flight home. She got out just before they had to close the airport.

I’m glad she made it out, but she is still worried about some of her friends there who use that same train line to commute to work. It’s a pretty complex situation that goes back hundreds of years.
