17th Carnival of the Feminists

Check it out at Bitch Lab. It’s awesome.

The next one will be held at Ink and Incapability, and while it’s pretty wide open, her themes are as follows:

1) I’m interested in women and religion, particularly women within new religious movements. A widely held belief (even in the femosphere) is that religious women are somehow downtrodden, serving and suffering under a patriarchal rule. Whilst this may be the case for some women, it is not the case for all, and even if it is the case, it may also be their choice to submit to these rules. In my own experience following research into an NRM, I have found that the oppression it’s women feel is not from the group’s beliefs and practices but, sad to say, from the feminist movement.
2) Feminism has gone too far. Discuss. A favourite topic of mine. What are your experiences and thoughts of the belief, held for example by the media, that feminism has gone too far and has done it’s job? Or do you believe that feminism has done its job?
3) Feminisms. The war of the feminists; does so-called ‘mainstream feminism’ ignore or even oppress alternative feminisms? An obvious example that springs to mind is to what extent does ‘mainstream’ ignore the experiences of Women of Colour? Are stay-at-home mums the enemy of feminists? Are sex-positive feminists slaves to the patriarchy? Of course, we could ask if there is even a mainstream feminism?

I can’t wait! Submit your posts by July 2nd.
