WAM! Feminist Media Conference + WAM!Prom

Two fantastic women / media / feminism events coming up!

First, March 23rd is the WAM! Feminist Media Conference in New York, from 9-5 at the Hive55. Registration is only $12 for panels including “Diversity and Justice in Media Representation,” “Lights, Camera, Talking Points: Media Training,” “Acing Your Freelance Life,” “Responsible Reporting on Sexual Violence and Criminal Justice,” and “Negotiating 101: Salary, Contracts and More.” Panelists include Jina Moore, Zerlina Maxwell, Esther Kaplan, Deanna Zandt, Jamia Wilson, Jamilah King, and many others. It also sells out every year, so register now.

Second, WAM!Prom, one of my favorite events of the year. It’s happening on April 6th at Littlefield in Brooklyn (a fantastic venue if you haven’t been). This year’s theme is 90s – grunge, hip hop, everything florescent and flannel. The winner of the costume contest will win Babeland prizes, and it’s just a super fun dance party.

There’s also a discount if you buy tickets to both the media conference and the prom. So go sign up!

  1. I don’t know if I’d even be able to make it, but would this be an event that men are welcome to attend (even if just to shut up and observe intently)? The workshops on responsible reporting and intersectionalism seem really neat.
