  1. Issa’s excuse for excluding women from the panel is akin to pro-Confederates arguing the civil war was really about “states’ rights” while refusing to address the supposed “rights” being fought over.

Issa and his ideological allies will never openly admit that they’re fine with employers imposing their religious beliefs upon employees, and I’ll wager they really only intend for a particular set of religious beliefs to receive special protection

  2. I offer my couch to American birth control refugees. My state (Queensland, Australia) has a pretty weird way of dealing with abortion, but at least birth control is available under health insurance (state AND private).

  3. Are 3 of those men Catholic priests to boot?

Nope, only one is. The other two are Protestant clergy.

The second panel for the committee hearing did have 2 women on it though. But they too were selected for their role in religious institutions, and their opposition to government mandated coverage of birth control.

  4. You guys must be democrats. All good god FEARING Republicans know that its about heartlessly and callously slaughtering defenseless totally human soul possessing babies and not women’s rights.

This is about contraception not abortion dumbass.

  6. Are there any petitions or other types of actions being organized around all of this anti-birth control bullshit? I don’t have money to spare, but I can sign and do other things – please let me know! I want to turn my rage into something constructive.

Because there is totally a difference in the minds of fundie conservatives? Dumbass.

  8. And sometimes there are no words. Seriously- even sarcasm is failing me right now.

This is a joke, right? No one could honestly be this dense, right? Right?

  9. I thought it came across quite clearly as sarcasm. Jill must have agreed since she let my next comment through moderation.

  10. Sorry- I’ve been dealing with people saying things like that in complete seriousness lately. I think it’s screwed up my sarcasm detector.

  11. Marry them off to underlings. That’s what the kings of England did, and it’s what John Edwards tried to do.
