Wow, thanks for linking to this. I’ve also added Blue Nights to my to-buy list, though I have a feeling it’ll be a hard read, for various reasons, some rather personal. But sometimes the hard reads are the best ones…
I loved The Year of Magical Thinking. This sounds even more painful, though Didion’s prose makes everything beautiful–but I can’t help be glad that my mother is not a writer who would expose me to the world if I died.
Thanks for linking, Jill. It was very powerful. While I wish I could write like her, but then, maybe she’s as good as she is because she’s experienced so much pain? Anyway, I’m buying the book this week.
