In defense of the sanctimonious women's studies set || First feminist blog on the internet

So long, farewell, aufwiedersehn, adeiu!

Well it’s been two weeks, and here I am, one hand on the doorknob, the other clutching my valise. It’s time for me to hit the road, but I have so enjoyed being here! My only regret is that I haven’t had the time to interact as much as I would have wanted on other people’s posts, but I’ve certainly been happy being in the mix, even if I didn’t get to say so very often. It’s quite the group of writers gathered here!

I’m grateful to the women of this space for providing it — to me for two weeks, of course, but mostly to the folks who come by and read every day. There are very few places in this world in which some of these conversations can be held. I’m grateful that the doors of Feministe are open, the space available, and the dialogue on-going.

Please do come visit me at my rambly blog, Emily L. Hauser In My Head, where the topics range from abortion to good books, Israel/Palestine to heat waves, childhood and parenting to love and loss. Please also swing by Angry Black Lady Chronicles, where I crosspost regularly. Angry Black Lady and her roving band of Merry and Angry Bloggers tend to talk a lot about politics (when we’re not, you know, talking about other stuff). And if you’re on the Twitter, come see me there, too!

Thanks again, to one and all — and of course: Shabbat shalom!

  1. Emily, I very much enjoyed your writing – I found it thought-provoking and very well done. Best of luck to you; I’ll continue to follow you on the interwebs.

  2. Emily! =( I didn’t comment much at all but it was mostly because I was sort of awestruck. I thoroughly enjoyed you very much and will miss your posts here.

  3. Hi Emily:

I like the style of your posts very much. Usually, I read them twice. Once to get the overall sense of the message. The second time, I click on the links. I’m impressed with the depth that gives your posts. I hadn’t really considered the value of links in widening the scope of an online essay before. I had only considered links as references. Thank you.

  4. Thanks, Emily, for sharing your thoughts and experiences with Feministe readers. I didn’t comment on this earlier, but I’ll tell you now: The part of your unroast post about your children was inspiring. As someone who wants to raise children in the future, I found it touching and motivational. I’ll definitely be following your personal blog!

  5. Thank you all so much for your kind words! 🙂 This has been a nice place to hang out for a bit! I do hope I see y’all around the ‘tubez, and I know that I have myself added a few blogs to my personal blogroll as a result of my sojourn here!

  6. Emily, I absolutely loved your posts. They were some of my favorite guest posts in a long time. I’ll definitely be heading over to your blog. Thanks for posting!

  7. Kathleen:
    c’est ADIEU!

Mon dieu! You are of course correct! My apologies – you can tell I didn’t take French….

(if it’s any consolation, I’m a terrible speller in any and all languages to which I have ever put my hand).
