  1. While the punishment should certainly fit the crime, and not be “cruel or unusual”, it is questionable for a young man who was caught humping a mannequin to be treated with the same respect of the law as a criminal who raped or molested someone.

As long as he is thoroughly tested for splinters first, I think he is probably not a great threat to society.

  2. Um, the guy had his junk out in a public place, humping a dummy. That’s indecent exposure at the least. And yes, that often gets you registered as a sex offender.

Creepy as they are, those RealDoll guys keep that shit at home.

  3. People often _do_ get registered as sex offenders for indecent exposure, which is what this is, but that they should be lumped in with rapists and pedophiles seems a bit harsh. (I’m being a bit facetious — I actually think is a fucking travesty of justice.)

  4. I am troubled by the fact that if I walk past the front windows of my house without a towel, I could become a sex offender if the wrong person is standing out front and looking in. I remember a case of a couple being charged because they didn’t close the blinds before having sex and a neighboring child looked in (don’t ask for a link – this was years ago). There is a difference between flashing the “goods” at a stranger on the street and being naked where you assume it is private. The “sex offender” laws don’t really differentiate.

Another liberal overeach but then again what do you expect.

  5. My brother has an acquiantence who took a shit in someone’s lawn, but they caught him doing it and he was charged with indecent exposure, and so now he’s a registered sex offender. A completely stupid act; but there was nothing sexual about it.

Reasoned thought instead of ad hominem attacks being passed of as reasoned thought, for starters. If you’d read the post, you’d have discovered that this liberal was criticizing the overreach of the law. At the risk of being criticized as “pro-sex-offenders” or “soft on sex crimes” at that. My post was in direct agreement with everything you said in your comment until you resorted to unnecessary cheap shots.

The guy was in an arts center!
