my name is mai’a. some of y’all know me, most of y’all don’t.

i am a black ndn queer mama to a three year old bad-ass princess. live in cairo, egypt. write for a few blogs like guerrilla mama medicine and flip flopping joy. run a zine distro with my girl aaminah at thaura zine distro. am a poet, outlaw midwife, anti utilitarian anarchist, visual artist, and all around dredlocked diva.

i blog about palestine and the middle east and africa, motherhood, reproductive justice and health, home birth and abortions, community building, survival, the fall of industrial civilization, and fairies.

some more quick notes:

there is no need for us-centrism

anti-mother/anti-child comments not appreciated

i have a pet peeve against straw man arguments

i am pro palestine/anti israeli government. the ‘balanced narrative’ is a delusion.

and i love a good argument/debate. emphasis on ‘good’. 😉

  1. You have written some incredibly powerful work. I am very excited to see you here (as well as elsewhere on the interweb!).

  2. Ever since my sister had her son (2 years ago) I’ve become progressively more interested in issues attached with motherhood, giving birth, reproductive rights and all that stuff. Granted, it’s from a US perspective for me, but I’m really excited to read your perspective, and really looking forward to your posts.

Plus, I don’t know if I’ve ever read someone actually coming out and saying “anti-israeli” government. I hope you’re here for a while!

  3. Welcome.

I’m also excited to see someone identify as pro-Palestine/Anti-Israeli government. I think too many times, good discussion gets shut down with it being so “wrong” to say you’re not on the Israeli government’s side.

  4. I just wanted to tell you that I love your posts (away from the shit show that some of the comments have become). You are an amazing woman. Also, where can I get a look at some of your visual art?
