Happy New Year!

And happy new decade (that’s a link to Lauren’s post below, at which you can get all dreamy and reflective).

It’s already 1 January 2010 here in the future Australia. We have two pretty spectacular fireworks displays on the harbour here in Sydney every New Year’s Eve, but this year I elected to stay home and eat chocolate. And I crashed into bed at 11pm! Today, however, I am celebrating with some friends.

What have you done, or what will you be doing, for New Year (assuming you follow the Gregorian calandar!)?

  1. I’m eating bagels and left over prawns. (Not together) Only at New Year could there ever be “left over prawns”.

I’m mostly spending my 1st day of the year in my traditional way – doing as little as possible. Oddly, I’m doing it without a hangover, but otherwise it’s pretty normal.

  2. Tonight, my husband and I will drink some champagne, offer some more to whichever neighbors are out on the terrace, and then probably fall asleep around 11:45. And tomorrow we’ll celebrate my 29th birthday by watching Star Trek and getting dinner! I’m pumped.
