I did not realize she was no longer blogging, taking time to write a book about “not doing it.” You need a book on that? Anyway, so sad. Planned Parenthood will run rampant, preventing unwanted pregnancies willy-nilly. How’s the Raving Atheist dealing with the loss of his fetal mentor?
I don’t know if it’s accurate to call Ms. Eden my “mentor” on abortion. I first started blogging on abortion in December 2002; her blog did not become heavily focused on that subject until late 2003. The blogs which influenced my decision to increase my abortion blogging were After Abortion and The S.I.C.L.E. Cell (both authored by post-abortive women), which I began reading (and ocassionally contributing to) in early 2003. I didn’t contribute anything to The Dawn Patrol until August 2005. I wasn’t even particularly aware of the blog until recently; in fact, in late 2004 I attacked a New York Post column by Eden (about religion in the schools) without having the slightest idea of who she was. And of course the rationale for my pro-life position is anti-religious rather than religious. Other than believing that conception is the proper starting point, I don’t know that my reasoning is all that different from that of Jill, who, as far as I can tell, is fetal-friendly to the extent of supporting legally-compelled childbirth post viability absent a life/health threat.
Speaking of Dawn Eden, she-who-is-about-to-become-Catholic, I wonder what she’ll make of this. Clickie.
Why would she make anything of it? Catholics have long rejected the fundamentalist interpretation of Scripture.
