Girldrive!

Still looking for the perfect, feminist holiday gift? Allow me to suggest Girldrive, by Emma Bernstein and (former Feministe guest-blogger!) Nona Willis Aronowitz. Here’s the trailor for a taste:

Nona kindly sent me a copy of the book, and it really is lovely. The women featured in Girldrive are inspirational and fascinating, and it paints a very optimistic portrait of feminist America. Check it out.

  1. Love this book! What is interesting about it is that it doesn’t only feature feminists, it also exposes some of the reasons why young women don’t identify with the word, too. I think the book was meant to be kind of an gateway for women who don’t know much about feminism, but as a self-proclaimed feminist, I got a lot out of it. It’s removed from the echo chamber and really takes you inside other women’s lives.

  2. It’s a perfect Mom gift. Or a college graduation gift. You don’t come across feminist coffee table books every day.
