Love

Go give the inimitable Twisty some love. If I’d been through that shit and someone tried to serve me a dry fucking pancake, I’d need some love.

Anyone who has anything rude to say in this comment thread will be banned from the site altogether.

  1. No shit. I don’t understand why hospitals, my own included, serve eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and coffee to people the day after they’ve had surgery.

    Dry pancakes? Fatty-ass bacon?

Let’s have a nicely arranged fruit plate and maybe a bagel, eh? The first part of getting well again is wanting to eat, and even *I* don’t want to eat what Twisty got.

  2. Very brave of her to be so open with the photos and such. I hope it gives some encouragement to other folk in similar situations.

    Hospital food sucks.

  3. Damn.
That is one brave girl. Kudos.
My friend Andy the photographer (http://www.andyadamsphoto.com/) has/had a type of lymphoma (Hodgkins? non-Hodgkins? Ugh, I’m sorry) and went through some serious chemo a couple of years ago. He made a huge photojournal of the whole time – lots of self portraits through hair loss, weight loss, strange marks all over his body. I think it was pretty therapeutic for him.

  4. Thanks for the reminder. I adore Twisty, but wasn’t sure what to say. Your post encouraged me to finally de-lurk from her site. I am so grateful she continues to post during recovery. I hope she lets us know about books, etc. that she would like.

  5. Seriously. Word to the wise – always insist to all hospitals that you are a vegan. Somehow, fresh fruit and raw veggies will miraculously appear to actually exist in their kitchens, and your food will be semi-edible.
