Nope, Can’t Be Racism

Last week, Rep. Richard Baker (R-LA) of Baton Rouge was overheard telling lobbyists:

“We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn’t do it, but God did.”

Backtracking, Baker later said “he didn’t intend flippancy but has long wanted to improve low-income housing.”

Again, what the hell are they going to do with New Orleans?

  1. Hey it’s about as sensitive as Marie-Antoinette, er… uh… Barbara Bush’s comments about how those in the Superdome and elsewhere are doing better than they were before. One thing insensitive comments like these illustrate is how horrible it is to be disenfranchised in this country. That they have no worth because they have no money or homes. Hubris is a way of life for some folks.

  2. I love cynical christian dumbasses who think god takes vengeance on poor people – that they deserve wrath. If a baby atheist like me can grasp the most cental “blessed is the meek, for they will inherit the earth” than how do fundies miss that? What do they spend all their bible time ready?!
