For Every Girl August 18, 2005 Lauren Oh, I love this poster: This is part of the CrimethInc gender subversion kit. via Pesky Apostrophe
so very true – my sister & i used to fight over the EZ-Bake Oven! have you ever checked out Girls Not Chicks? they gots rad genderqueer coloring books!
Oh wait. The $4 price *is* a bundle of 25. I just assumed they were $4/each. Oof. It might be time for a culture jam.
If you order anything off the site, they throw in a TON of their posters. I got this one and another good one talking about beauty standards when I ordered Evasion, which is a great book BTW.
It’s a good one….I don’t go for the E-Z bake oven (who needs it when you have the real thing), but the rest of it gets my applause.
y’all saw that you can print it right off the site, right? i just put one in the window of my shop. not to say it wouldn’t be worth the $4.00 but, y’know, for those of you into immediate gratification…
When my sister got an EZ Bake oven circa 1982, she quickly grew tired of it. I, however, made extensive use of it before my mom finally taught me to bake at age 8. I just want to know what the fuck happened to the “gender neutral” tan/brown color. I mean, besides the fact it is more obviously intended to be sold to girls (like guys would never want to know how to cook), I don’t really like pink all that much.
I love that! Two years ago after telling my GF that I had always wanted an ez-bake oven but my parents wouldn’t get me one as a kid…she bought me one for x-mas. I knew it was love.
I was given a few of these last year sometime and couldn’t find them. Thanks for linking this and I have ordered 2 bundles to be passed around on campus!!
that had me weeping from the first paragraph. thanks for the post. those pure true words will carry me through my ten mile run today. love and peace, ehj2
