FNTT, Season 5: the Godwin’s round

Feministe’s Next Top Troll continues, this time with more Nazi references. Troll comments below the fold. Vote for your favorite.

irene, from Obama to Rescind HHS “Conscience” Rule

So!!! Let me get this straight. If a kosher or halal food processing plant that got some federal start up money to start their business, they must provide pork to me if I demand it or they must absolutely refer me to a kosher or halal food processing plant that will provide pork for me. I do not believe Jewish or muslim organizations will allow that! The Nazis tried to force people’s consciences, and well, it didn’t bode well in history.

Eclipse, from Actually, comparing Sonia Sotomayor to Sarah Palin is kind of insulting:

To the Nazi that deleted my comments – what are you afraid of?

  1. Irene for “reproductive health is a lot like pork – tasty, but basically a luxury!”

  2. Oh man. Irene, for the astonishing assertion that birth control is like pork. Epic.

Also a win, because even now I am itching to set her straight, which the mark of a talented and successful troll: drawing intelligent debate downward with irresistibly stupid arguments.

  3. For the same reasons j.elise stated, Irene. I’m so tempted to be like “wait, but they probably would refer you to the grocery store down the street where you can buy whatever you like…” and I have to stop myself.

  4. Irene, who manages to wrap complete WTFery in wholesome, kindergarten teacher perkiness. I’m really looking forward to the coloring activity and then apple juice and pork at snack time!

  5. Becoming pregnant or facing serious physical problems because of not being able to fill a legal prescription is the exact same thing as not being able to find fictional meat products. FACT!

  6. It’s amazing what kind of rhetorical impact you can have comparing abortion to bacon. Or anything to bacon, really. On the pro-choice side, since bacon is awesome so is everything that is like bacon!

    Fuck Spartacus, I AM BACON!

  7. It’s amazing what kind of rhetorical impact you can have comparing abortion to bacon.

Someone on the NYT editorial board should let Ross Douthat know.

  8. j.elise and JessSnark said it. Irne all the way. I want so badly to try to respond, it’s just all so wrong.
On a side note, do we know if ze had anything to do with the Gathering Storm commercial? The logic seems strikingly familiar.

  9. Irene, for making me wonder if perhaps she was posting on two different webshites but her comments were somehow mangled into one incoherent mess.

  10. Eclipse gets my vote because he imagines people are afraid of his bold, fearless words.

Hey Eclipse! It’s not fear, not in any way, not in the least. The people who run this privately-owned web site just didn’t like your stuff, whatever it was, so they declined to republish it at their own expense. It’s kind of like your lawn, you know? If I come over to your house and plant a sign in your front yard that says, for example, “Eclipse is a big stupid dork,” nobody is going to be surprised if you pull it up and throw it out, and nobody with an ounce of sense is going to question your motives, either.

  11. Tangent: Have you posted the comment of a Mr. “lickmyballs@yahoo.com” yet? I’m dying to hear what he had to say.

  12. Irene, hands down. I mean, if her logic were in any way correct, then that would mean that I would be able to go to a shoe store and demand that they either sell me a hat, or tell me where I can find a hat.

    Wow.

    W. Kiernan—I really liked this. even though you didn’t vote for irene, I hope she sees this comment and learns how to write a meaningful comparison between two different things…

  14. Definitely Irene, for the sheer WTF nature of her comment. I’m still trying to figure it out.

  15. Irene. For the glorious leap from Jew/Muslim to Nazi. I feel like Eclipse was just phoning it in.

  16. Eclipse (Actually, comparing Sonia Sotomayor to Sarah Palin is kind of insulting): actually, comparing a blog moderator to a Nazi is kind of stooopid.

  17. Definitely, lol, exactly what she said:

  18. I had to vote for Eclipse, here, though Irene obviously put both “thought” and “effort” into her comment. Eclipe just had that certain intangible something that screams about her persecution at the hands of the world because she’s brilliant and threatens our paradigms.
