Another Massive Link Roundup

I have twice this number of links left on the desktop but these are my offerings for now, Internet Gods.

Feminism
Bitch Ph.D. has a question for parents:

If you have a daughter–and if you don’t, but you think parental consent laws are a good idea, imagine yourself with a daughter, especially if you are a man:

Have/did/will you discuss menstruation and sexuality with her? Before she had her first period? Do you purchase tampons or pads for her? When she had her first period, did you make an appointment for her with a gynecologist? Did you encourage her to use birth control if she is sexually active? Before she became sexually active? Did you have a substantive discussion, or have you just sort of mentioned generally that girls shouldn’t get pregnant or have sex before marriage? Did you make an appointment for her to discuss it with a doctor and get a prescription?…

Excellent post.

Echidne of the Snakes writes on social conservatism and feminism.

Aunt Jenna covers the vicitmization of Mike Phillips by rabid, raunchy feminazis. Actually, I have found that feminists are among the most raunchy personalities I’ve ever come across, including my own. Chuck can vouch for my levels of wrongness in person.

Dadahead writes on Roe v. Wade and potential SCOTUS nominees at Liberal Avenger. In a related post, Jesse at Pandagon discusses how Roe is not and cannot be considered a states-only issue. Also, Anne Crittendon writes on “The Price of Denying Choice,” an article related to her most recent book on the economic and career sacrifices women make within the traditional family structure.

The Dredge Report covers feminist reactions to the resignation of O’Connor.

Ginmar writes on the “protection racket“:

Most of all, though, these guys will talk about protecting women without any irony at all while they’re attacking them for being bitch dyke lying lazy cunts who want to take over. They’ll say it’s just BITCHES they hate, but there’s no entrance exam for that: they’re the judge and jury of who’s a bitch or not, and remember, you don’t get to question them at all. IF they’re all that’s protecting you, well, then, you better not piss them off. You’re not allowed to point this out.

Tiffany of Black Feminism writes on a new African feminism. The piece she quotes is awesome.

Ampersand refutes a misleading article on the gender wage gap.

Twisty Faster, my new sausage-eating girlfriend and personal idol, explains The Patriarchy with her usual wit and hilarity. In another post, she illustrates the fuckedupness of The Patriarchy.

Manogirl on body image and compliments, a sentiment I certainly identify with.

Lynn brings together several bloggers’ discussions about porn with astute commentary.

Politics
Chuck unfortunately catalogues the wealth of idiots writing letters to the editor in our town. On the other hand, we got a few particularly good letters published today. See the first two.

Religion
Fred Phelps says big gay England is being punished for harboring queers. It’s a good think we all know he’s a fucking idiot.

Terrence points out a new movie I have to see: The God Who Wasn’t There.

And your feel good links for the day: Klingons Have Feelings Too and A Love Letter To Star Trek.

  1. Just a quick note… it’s Mike Adams who is perpetually victimized by legions of evil feminists, not Mike Phillips, who is a pretty decent ally and as far as I can tell, has only been victimized by a few of us.
