Francis and Flynt are just attention seeking assholes. Putting this out there just gives these jerks free publicity. In one news report I watched a man said people should support this because it was cheaper for men to buy porn than have a girlfriend. Porn he said encourages men to save money. This is the kind of bullshit that occurs with these men.
I think part of it is for publicity, Renee, but I also think it’s to point out the ridiculousness of these bailouts, and I can’t say I’m disappointed at this. He may be an asshole, but he’s right on the money (pun!) with this one.
Agreeing with marilove here. I’m no fan of Flynt, but I do think it’s mostly to poke fun at the ridiculousness of some of these bailouts.
I agree that they’re poking fun. But I still agree with Jill that things would be much happier with Joe Francis in Antarctica.

I think this is hilarious. Flynt is a smart man, and this is a great way for a smart man with expendable cash to comment on the absurdity of the bailouts.
This porn industry bailout is utter nonsense. And Wall Street started all of this. We need to rescind that bailout, and then send all of the people on Wall Street to Antarctica for good.

I’m not crazy about Flynt and Francis, but I prefer to see them in the news than watching extremely wealthy white men claiming destitution and taking almost a trillion dollars in welfare.
I know this is a publicity stunt but it gave me a laugh anyway. I expect that porn may likely be a growth industry (pun, sorry) because people will be staying home.

In total seriousness, the arguments in favor of the auto bailout apply much more strongly to the pornography industry. No one is going to face discrimination due to having experience at Chrysler. Women in porn are sex workers, though, and will forever carry that stigma, making it difficult to procure “decent” employment. They already retire very early because too few people are interested in buying images of women over 20 being stood upon and raped. (Even “classy” high-production-value porn contains clear, explicit rape. I am not being an alarmist dyke. “Pirates” was a recent flagship experiment in higher production value films from the pornography industry, and it contains an undeniable lesbian rape scene.) Imagine if these women had to retire even earlier because the industry folded. Why, they’d be sightly more harmed even than they are now.
I think its a tragedy that we have porn in the first place. It diminishes the capacity for real sex and a poor substitute. Meanwhile, women who work as an “actress” are encouraged to only have sex with their own kind. So in a sense it’s like a closed sex club. We as a nation are hypocrites. We claim we are liberated sexually, but spend billions on watching others who are paid to have sex. It;s pretty twisted. My wish is that the porn industry collapses, and we will then wake up to see how stupid we are to have paid for that crap.
^^^^^^^^ First of all the porn industry is not a shame. It is a great passtime enjoyed by millions of people, men and women alike. You think that america is sexually liberated… ha. that’s a joke. there’s too many mothers boasting “good values” that are the real hypocrites. But that’s a whole different philosophical argument. The fact that movies like saw can enter the theaters where people are literally tortured, while a movie can be banned for having an explicit sex scene is absolutely ridiculous. The women in the porn industry are in the industry by choice. What is wrong with doing something that they love and getting payed for it. If i looked good enough to take off my clothes and make a million dollars for a couple hours of work, I would do so in a heart beat. Next time you complain about the porn industry ask your self this. would you rather see somebody give oral sex or see somebody beaten? Would you rather see somebody get murdered or see that person having sex?
