What doesn’t match, kids?

My favorite section, though, is this one:

COULTER: No, those are different chapters and completely different points. You are conflating two things that have nothing to do with one another. The point is, in — on the Alicia Keys and Barack Obama, it is that all of these children of a black father who abandoned them and a white mother who raised them, they all identify with the ethnicity of their black fathers to establish victimhood status in America.

COLMES: And you accuse them of insulting —

COULTER: Because that is how you get ahead in America, by being a victim.

COLMES: And you accuse them of insulting the women who struggled to raise them.

COULTER: Correct.

COLMES: Yet you have insulted them by calling them strippers.

COULTER: No, I didn’t call the mothers strippers.

HANNITY: Oh, my goodness.

COULTER: I said that this is a recipe for creating — and it is, it is a fact —

COLMES: Oh, their kids are strippers. OK.

COULTER: Yes, and they will be, and that is a fact. You liberals pretend you care about facts.

So good.

(And yes, I know I shouldn’t be giving Coulter any attention, but this was just too funny — “All children of single mothers will be strippers, and that’s a FACT!” cannot be beat. Although I could have lived without Colmes’s buying into Coulter’s frame that being a stripper is just as bad as being a murderer, rapist or criminal).

    I do. I think its all an act, a schtick. I’d like to believe that no one could possibly be this insane; its all an act to keep her name out there and sell books to dim witted wingnuts.

    I guess when my biological father died in a tragic accident when I was 6 months old some one should’ve told my mum to get right back into dating! I guess my university astrophysics education and my current goals to become a beekeeper are just glitches, huh?

  5. You know, this woman is pro-life, and I can respect that as a PERSONAL position. Heck personally, I have never had an abortion and don’t think I ever would, PERSONALLY. However it is more than hypocritical to proclaim a POLITICAL stance as pro-life and then condemn the women who make the sacrifice into single motherhood when they could just as easily have aborted the child! Which is it? Aborting the baby is wrong, riasing the baby alone is wrong or giving the baby up for adoption and the child growing up in an orphanage is wrong? Don’t get me started on her assertions that children of single mothers will all grow up to be criminals or *gasp* strippers.

  6. If I were Coulter I’d be mighty careful about judging people who managed to make a living off their appearance. I mean, at least most strippers don’t mindlessly repeat hateful horseshit to turn on their audience.

  8. Wow. When Coulter said her problem with McVeigh was that he didn’t blow up the NY Times building, I had a relative in that building. She’s a vile human being. Treating sex workers, including ones whose jobs are legal, honest work as equivalent to violent criminals is beneath contempt.

    Can you imagine where she’d be if she didn’t say shocking, offensive things like this? Her “followers” enjoy the storm. So she feeds them a steady supply.

    Uhhhhh……Ok, lessee, my mom was a singleton, and I’m actually about to get a B.S. in Criminal Justice, have no police record, have never raped anybody, have yet to kill anybody, and the closest that I ever got to stripping was skinny-dipping in a friends pool in suburbia. Hmmmmm…..must’ve missed something there. Tell ya what, Ann, if it’ll make you feel any better, I”ll rush right out and kill…..YOU! Or at least force-feed you a twinkie……

    Actually, I think she’s just advocating infanticide. You can’t kill them in utero because they’re still innocent and haven’t touched a vagina yet. Once they’re born and have experienced the vaginal contact-transfer of sin, it’s open season. Also, Barack Obama is a stripper.

    Also also, it’s uncool to insult the woman who raised you by identifying with your absentee father’s black heritage–as if biracial kids with identifiably non-Anglo features would be allowed to call themselves white even now, never mind 20, 30, or 40 years ago–but it’s totally cool to insult her by saying that if only she’d managed to lure a father-figure into the household, you wouldn’t have fucked up your life, hurt somebody else, or, uh, started stripping.

    Our society systematically gives us words the blur together completely different things. One example is ‘crime’ or ‘criminal’ which mixes people who violate other people, people who allow others to violate them for economic rewards, people who help other people in the wrong way, and a dozen other categories.

    Other examples include ‘theft’, which blurs together taking something someone needs and shoplifting things which you need, and ‘vermin’, which blurs together pretty-much-mindless insects, highly-intelligent rats, and often various categories of human.

    In each case the meaning of the word is not really the things it refers to, but the image, the emotional reaction – such as the sense of contempt and fear which we feel for ‘criminals’ living in ‘crime-ridden’ neighbourhoods.

    Would I be completely over-the-top if I quoted George Orwell?

  26. One sign of a not-so-secret bigot is that he or she is always in a complete snit about how this or that famous, renowned black person is a fraud, a fool, whatever. Why else would Counter rip on Alicia Keyes, who has never done anything but sing and play like an angel (while looking like one too)? Why did Rush Limbaugh, during his mercifully short stint on ESPN (what were they thinking?), come out of nowhere with a completely gratuitous racial slur about Donovan McNabb, who just led the Eagles past the first round of the playoffs?

    Now that a black man is in the White House, these people might actually dissolve in their own bile. Sort of like spontaneous human combustion.

  27. Come on Ann, I wonder what YOU would say if Alicia or Obama identify themselves as white? Please, you would be the first one to tell them that they are not like you and make them use the back entrance(if you could).

    In her warped mind she believe they are inferior to her because these are people who are black, poor,who come from single parent homes have everything going against them from birth and let us not forget about the stigma, looks etc their white mothers went through, and here they are successful,talented, intelligent and that shit is eating her up while she looks in the mirror and yells “that should have been me!”

  28. So, funny thing. Turns out that my seminar this semester on Intellectual & Cultural History is on the history of “broken families”.

    Strangely, single motherhood has been around since the dawn of time. (I know, I’m shocked – aren’t you?) “Broken Homes” – not a new thing.

    And yet, the world has not previously come to an end.

    Ok, this is totally off topic, but I’m really curious. How does one obtain a B.S. in Criminal Justice as opposed to a B.A.? I’ve been wondering for a couple of days, trying to figure out where the math/science aspect is.

    She’s an intelligent and articulate and intentionally plays the media.

    She likes to put it out there that she’s a hell raiser, but REAL hell raisers aren’t an act. The ones we need to watch out for are the ones who don’t say overly ridiculous things like single motherhood is a recipe for strippers, rapists…or whatever. She’s nothing more than an act. Act Coulter.

    What’s right about it? How about the fact that many women CHOOSE to be strippers because it can be a very lucrative job and give them very flexible (heh heh pun intended) hours when going to school?

    I’ve known quite a few strippers and all were amazing women.

  35. The thing I find so funny about this woman is that though she loves to dish it out, she absolutely can’t take it. And did anyone notice her on the Today show this morning, in those high-heeled boots and short skirt? Talk about stripping for your audience. Methinks thou doth protest too much, lady.

    Disclaimer: not that there’s anything wrong with that outfit, it just strikes me as hilarious given her moral indignation about stripping and sluts…

  37. One of my friends stripped to help pay for college. He earned a graduate degree and is now an administrator at a university. He also came from an intact home. I can’t even measure the amount of fail in Ann’s rantings.

  38. Given the number of single mothers, shouldn’t we have a lot more strippers? Yet Ontario has been experiencing a stripper shortage ever since the federal Immingation Minister changed the rules to make it harder for Eastern European exotic dancers to get work visas. (You may thing I’m kidding, but I’m not. We have an actual stripper shortage).

  41. Dammit she’s resurfaced, I thought maybe she’d take her millions and go buy an island somewhere and stay there.
    But to her comment about Alicia Keys and Barack Obama identifying with their African-American parents: I would agree that they probably identify in more ways with African-American culture rather than white culture because in America they’re viewed as being of African descent, and therefore “black.” So many times Obama is identified as “a black man.” We ignore his caucasian ancestry and pigeon-hole him as being “black,” so why are we suprised that he would then relate more to African-American culture? I’m not sure of his mother’s specific background, but if she was Ukranian and he showed up at a Ukranian church or a Ukranian cultural event he’d draw more strange looks than if he showed up to a predominantly African-American church of attended an African-American cultural event. Yet Coulter would lay the blame on them instead of the society for daring to identify with their African heritage more than their caucasian heritage.
