Dr. Susan Stryker Tonight on Blogtalk Radio

As you may know, Renee of Womanist Musings does a weekly Blogtalk radio show with Allison McCarthy and Monica of Transgriot. This week, they’re going to be doing a particularly cool show with guest Dr. Susan Stryker, author of Transgender History (which Allison recently reviewed).  I know that the book is currently on my wish list, and the crew will be tackling some big issues in addition to doing some Trans 101:

We will be discussing the troubled history of transphobia in the feminist community, as well as race and class issues within the transgender movement and the relationship between sexual orientation and gender identity.

The show airs tonight at 8pm EST, and you can call in using the number (347) 326-9452. If you’re unable to listen in live, Renee will be posting a link afterward so that you can listen to the recorded show.

It sounds like in addition to this being a great opportunity for trans people to discuss their own issues, it’s also a good chance for cis womanists and feminists to learn from a conversation that isn’t centered on cis perspectives.  If either of those things is something that interests you, check it out.
