It’s not just last week’s Twitter jab at Mika Brzezinski, nor his followup jab, nor his video of his fantasy WWE takedown of #FraudNewsCNN. Trump has spent the first not-even-six months of his presidency showing exactly how crass, juvenile, reactionary, impulsive, and vindictive he is in all aspects of his personal life and his presidency. Conduct becoming the presidency? It sure is if you ask him.
Judging from the number of defenders he has, in the White House and out, I suppose it can be said that it is MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL. The days of dignity, restraint, maturity, and class in the Oval Office are over. Barack Obama was an outdated, archaic, classy version of president. Trump is the tacky-ass president of the NOW.
Which is something we’ve known from the beginning, right? I mean, remember how public figures right and left were lauding his presidentiality after his first address to Congress?
Donald Trump did indeed become presidential tonight, and I think we’ll see that reflected in a higher approval rating. – Sen. Mitch McConnell
This is a very strong man. He’s a very strong leader and broad shoulders and speaks his mind, but you saw the heart of this President last night. – Vice President Mike Pence
He walked into that room as the winner of a controversial election. He walked out as the President of the United States. – Jeffrey Lord
He became president of the United States in that moment — period. – Van Jones, CNN
It was perhaps the clearest sign yet that after 40 days in the West Wing, the President is beginning to come to grips with the public responsibilities of the office. – Alex Altman and Zeke Miller, Time
So… how’s that working out for y’all?
