  5. I’m publishing Q&A’s with LGBTQ folks throughout Western PA, emphasizing those whose voices aren’t often heard. So far I have 15 published, representing 7 different counties (out of 26.) This project continue through 2016 and I hit the road this month to go to A LOT of PFLAG picnics and meet people. 🙂 You can browse the responses here.

    Pride has been very political this year in Pittsburgh. I’m working my way through a 4 part wrap up of the key events that I witnessed. Part One was a small meeting to air out difference – ahem. Part Two was a town hall meeting where everyone was included.

    Finally, my friend and local gay florist had a once in a lifetime chance to design an arrangement for Mick Jagger when the Stones came to town. He let me tag along. It was fun.

In the last two weeks I wrote about a mini-controversy in Guelph, Ontario (where, by the way, it has been legal to go topless in public for 20 years now) where a couple was told their 8-year-old daughter couldn’t swim at a public pool without a top on, because now we have to not only freak out about boobs, but potential boobs as well.

    Also, my rage towards the awful Elle Decor article with the lady who had to choose between an extra kid and a luxury dream home.

  9. “Murder Seen Through the Eyes of a Child” is a great read that catalogs the struggles of a mountain family in Appalachia as they defend their property against the terrible mining practice of mountain top removal. It is a great simple book that also catalogs the adventures of 3 young boys as they watch this tragedy unfold. It is fiction but based on actual events that really happened in the lives of these 3 young boys. See it at Booklocker.com & at nathanrhodesauthor.com and all major online stores. It is getting good reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.

PinkoHippie NonSense is a fun little collection of thoughts and poems, if by fun, you understand that they deal with the range of female-identifying experiences, some of which are triggering/child abuse/mental health, approached in a forthright, sometimes irreverent, vividly imagistic, my kind of way.
